My name is Kris McCormick and I’m a life-long reader and storyteller turned editor. I first started taking writing seriously when I was about 13 and made two teachers cry from my work less than six months apart. As I grew and studied the craft of writing, I came to realize that, rather than focusing solely on my writing, my passions and skills could be better used helping others tell their stories. I’ve spent the past 15 years honing my understanding of story and writing while also researching the publishing industry’s trends, tendencies, and trials. Now I’m here to share all I know with you to build the writing and/or publishing lifestyle you’ve been dreaming of. I have a BA in English and am currently pursuing double degrees for MA in Publishing and MFA in Creative Writing from Rosemont College. I’m a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA) and the Romance Writers of America (RWA). I’ve been a reader for Philadelphia Stories’ annual fiction contest and run several creative writing groups.
Green Pen Editorial focuses on providing tools, resources, and support for hobbyist and early-career authors. Our purpose is to encourage and empower writers of all backgrounds, interests, and experiences to write their ideas into completed works, never abandoning them for lack of time or guidance. Whether writing for your enjoyment or for profit, Green Pen is designed to provide whatever an author may need on their journey: encouragement, advice, editorial feedback, or information about publishing opportunities. We believe everyone has the capacity to tell a good story and that those stories can change lives for the better.
Writing and publishing can take a heavy toll on our environment. From the paper we write and print on that require trees to be cut down, the hours spent at computers, video calls and emails during writing and revision, and the energy needed to power our phones, computers, and ereaders powered by fossil fuels, our enjoyment is not without cost to the world around us. Being mindful of this is why we at Green Pen Editorial ensure that a portion of our profits are donated to environmental protection and revitalization projects around the world. In order to protect this work we love, we support groups and programs that look for more ecologically friendly alternatives to the resources we use as well as revitalizing those we've used. Not only do we want to keep creating the stories that bring us joy, but we want to do so in a world that sustains us and our well being as much as we sustain it.
We give a portion of our income to charities and programs benefiting environmental, educational, and women’s rights causes around the world.
With self-effacing confidence and enthusiasm, Kris presented a verbal snapshot of what I needed to provide a memorable evening [for my book launch]. A comprehensive step-by-step outline followed, not a rigid "Must Do" but a scaffold of suggestions, followed by conversation to allay any concern that I would be overwhelmed. When we found an occasional glitch, Kris was relentless and thoughtful in resolving the difficulty.
Kris took a personal interest in my success. No detail escaped her notice, both before and during the party. The night of the event, she beamed with pride as if it were her evening instead of mine! Kris' professionalism shone through, and what I thought would be a modest attendance at best turned out to be an unforgettable, shining moment for me!

Working with Kris (who I had the pleasure of working with as a beta-reader to my novel) was a delight from start to finish. She was communicative, intuitive, and beyond thorough with ehr feedback. Reading ehr comments, I truly felt she was invested in my storyline, like she was right there with me inside my head. Her openness and honesty about her in-the-moment reactions to events and characters were instrumental in gaining a true reader’s perspective on my book. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone building a story of their own, and I WILL be seeking her out for future collaboration. By far, Kris McCormick’s work has been the most thorough, insightful, and entertaining of any beat-readers I have worked with thus far.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
